What the two buttons actually change
The original 151 is generation 1, all of it and nothing else. The other button opens the pool to nine generations, and they are not the same size as each other. Generation 5 is the biggest one there has ever been, bigger than the 151 everybody knows, and generation 6 is less than half of it. Turn it on and most of what you are shown will be a shape you have never had to name.

How the shape is made
There is no second set of images. The game takes the official artwork, which has a transparent background, and crushes every pixel in it to black while leaving the transparency alone. That is exactly a silhouette, and getting the answer is what lifts it back off.

A card is a rectangle with a border, so the silhouette of a card is a rectangle. This is the one game here that cannot use the card corpus the rest of the site runs on, which is why it borrows the Pokedex instead.

Outline only: no color, no pattern, no type. Most of what makes a Pokemon recognizable on a card is thrown away, which is why a shape you would know instantly in color can take a moment here.
