Marketplace. Fixed price and auction, plus eBay Live for livestream selling
Best for. Anything with a price history: graded slabs, single high-value cards, sealed product. The per-order fee and the flat percentage make cheap singles hard to move at a profit.
- Final value fee, Toys & Hobbies > Collectible Card Games, no Store or Starter Store 13.25% up to $7,500 per item, then 2.35% on the portion over $7,500 Applies to. Total amount of the sale: item price, handling, buyer-paid shipping, sales tax and any other applicable fees Non-Sport Trading Cards, Sports Trading Cards and Comic Books & Memorabilia carry the same 13.25%. Most other categories are 13.6%.
- Final value fee, same category, Basic / Premium / Anchor / Enterprise Store 12.35% up to $2,500 per item, then 2.35% on the portion over $2,500 Applies to. Same total amount of the sale A subscription buys 0.9 points off the rate but moves the band edge down from $7,500 to $2,500, so on a big single card the Store is not automatically cheaper.
- Per order fee $0.30 on orders of $10.00 or less, $0.40 on orders over $10.00 Applies to. Each order, where an order is any number of items bought by the same buyer at checkout with the same shipping method Charged on top of the percentage, inside the same final value fee.
- Payment processing None charged separately eBay's own wording: one final value fee, and 'you don't have to worry about third-party payment processing fees'. This is the main structural difference from TCGplayer and Whatnot.
- Insertion fee First 250 listings free each month, then $0.35 per listing with no Store Applies to. Per listing and per category, non-refundable if the item does not sell Store allocations are larger and cheaper: Starter 250 then $0.30; Basic 250 auction in select categories and 1,000 fixed price all categories, then $0.25; Premium 500 / 10,000 then $0.15 and $0.10; Anchor 1,000 / 25,000 then $0.10 and $0.05. Good 'Til Cancelled listings renew monthly and are charged again each renewal.
- Store subscription Starter $7.95 a month, or $4.95 a month on yearly renewal. Basic $27.95 / $21.95. Premium $74.95 / $59.95. Anchor $349.95 / $299.95. Enterprise $2,999.95, yearly only. Applies to. Monthly, until canceled Starter Store pays the same 13.25% as no Store at all. The lower 12.35% starts at Basic.
- Dispute fee $20.00 per dispute Applies to. Each dispute where the seller is found responsible for the disputed amount, for example a chargeback Waived when the transaction is eligible under payment dispute seller protections.
- International fee 1.65% of the total amount of the sale Applies to. Sales where the delivery address or the buyer's registered address is outside the US Not charged if the item ships through eBay International Shipping.
- Reserve price $5.00 or 7.5% of the reserve price, whichever is greater, capped at $250 Applies to. Auction listings with a reserve Charged whether or not the item sells.
- Additional final value fee for seller performance +6% of the applicable final value fees, rising to +7% after four or more consecutive months Applies to. Accounts evaluated Below Standard on the 20th of the month, applied to the following calendar month Separately, a 'Very High' rate of item-not-as-described return requests adds +5%, rising to +6% after four consecutive months. Only one of the two is charged if both apply.
- eBay Live (livestream selling) 6% commission on the total amount of the sale, capped at $100 per item, plus 2.9% payment processing plus $0.30 per order Applies to. Purchases made during an eBay Live event, and all case break purchases whenever made eBay states this as 8.9% + $0.30, and the 6% cap is reached at $1,667, above which only the 2.9% continues. No insertion fee on Live listings. A promotion through December 31, 2026 drops the per-order fee to $0.10 on orders of $10 or less. Different structure and much lower rate than the same seller's ordinary eBay listings.
Getting paid. Sales proceeds show as Processing, then typically become Available 1 to 2 days after the buyer's payment is confirmed. Payouts default to daily and are initiated about 2 days after payment is confirmed; weekly go out Tuesdays, biweekly every second Tuesday, monthly on the first Tuesday. The bank then typically takes another 1 to 3 business days. Express payout to a verified debit card or eligible bank account arrives in about 30 minutes for a flat $2.00. Must be a checking account or a Visa/Mastercard debit card; a savings account or PayPal cannot receive payouts.
To sell there. An eBay account. A Store is an optional paid subscription and it lowers the rate.
If it goes wrong. Seller protections cover abusive buyer behavior (negative and neutral feedback and defects removed, cases removed from service metrics) and events outside the seller's control such as carrier delays or severe weather when tracking shows on-time shipment. Payment dispute protection, where the transaction is eligible, covers the disputed amount, waives the $20 dispute fee and removes related feedback. The extra Top Rated Seller protections against a false 'not as described' claim, and against an item returned used or damaged, require Top Rated Seller status, US or Canada residence, no 'Very High' service metric, a listing on eBay.com and a 30-day or longer return policy. Protection is lost for false identity, not honoring your own return policy, taking sales off eBay, shipping slower than the service bought, and abuse of the protections themselves.
