Pokemon sealed MSRP: what it should cost

What each kind of sealed product should cost, so you can work out in the shop how far over you are being asked to go.

Suggested is the whole point. No shop has to honor a suggested price, which is why one can ask triple. Where these came from.

    The most agreed figure on this page, and the one a shop is most likely to be over on. This row said Pokemon Center does not sell the retail box at all, which the fuller reading disproved: it sells five, and every one is old stock. Four Sun and Moon boxes were $39.99 and the Hidden Fates box $49.99 on August 17, 2026. None of them is a current set, so there is still no store reading to check this figure against and it stays on the references.

    Thirteen of them at the same figure on one day, from Paldea Evolved in 2023 through to 30th Celebration, so this is as settled as anything on the page. Wargamer had it at $54.99 in March 2026 and it has moved since. Every Sword and Shield era box Pokemon Center still lists is $49.99, which is the older price rather than a bargain, and the two Elite Trainer Box PLUS sets are a bigger product again at $64.99.

    Seventeen bundles at $26.94, every Scarlet and Violet and Mega Evolution set Pokemon Center lists. The rise it used to describe is now visible on one page: the Silver Tempest and Crown Zenith bundles, both Sword and Shield era, were still $23.94 on the same day.

    Nine sleeved packs at $4.49, every Scarlet and Violet and Mega Evolution one on the page. Six Sword and Shield sleeved packs were still listed at $3.99 beside them, which is the older price and is where the reference tables' lower figure comes from. Wargamer says about $5 without giving an exact figure, so it is not counted either way.

    This row said the manufacturer does not sell one and that was only true of the 31 products read first. Pokemon Center lists a pack with no sleeve as its own SKU beside the sleeved one, at the same price, for four Scarlet and Violet sets: Stellar Crown for instance is sold both ways and both are $4.49. The Brilliant Stars one is $3.99, which is the Sword and Shield era figure again. What a shop charges over its own counter for a pack out of a box it bought whole is still the shop's decision.

    Pokemon Center does not use the word blister. It lists this as three booster packs and a promo card, which is what a three-pack blister is, and thirteen of them are $13.99 to the cent. The older ones price the whole history of the product in one column: twelve Sun and Moon and Sword and Shield blisters at $12.99, and one XY blister still at $11.99.

    The best backed row on the page by a distance: thirty seven mini tins in Pokemon's own shop on one day, all $9.99, plus three reference tables on the same figure. Nine older tins were $8.99 on that page, the Pokemon GO and Sinnoh Stars ones among them, so a tin on a shelf below $9.99 is not automatically a mistake. Eight of them are also sold as one boxed set for $79.92, which is exactly eight times $9.99.

    Straight from Pokemon's own shop, and the fuller reading of the category found the same tin at the same figure, so the row now joins to a recorded reading instead of a hand-typed url.     Eight of them and not one is a different figure, which makes this the rare row where the Sword and Shield stock and the Scarlet and Violet stock agree. No reference here prices the type at all, so Pokemon's own shop is the whole of the evidence and it is unanimous.

    This row had no source at all until the category was read in full. Nine ex Boxes are $21.99, including every current one, and a single 2023 listing sits under them at $19.99. The V Box line these replaced is still on the shelf at $19.99 across all seven of them, which is what the odd one out looks like.

    Two references disagreed by two dollars and neither could settle it. Pokemon's own shop lists three, all $29.99, all from the current line, which is the figure UnownArchives had. Bill's Archive prices only the 30th Celebration binder and that particular box was not on the page, so its $31.99 is not contradicted so much as unchecked. The 151 binder from 2023 is still listed at $24.99.

    Four of them at $14.99. V is the Sword and Shield era card, so these are old stock rather than the current line, and the Mega Battle Decks that took their place are $14.99 as well. Do not read the Lycanroc versus Corviknight box at $29.99 as a fifth reading: that one is two decks in a box and it is a different product from either deck sold alone.

    THIS ROW USED TO SAY POKEMON CENTER DOES NOT SELL DISPLAY BOXES AND THAT THE TWO FIGURES IN CIRCULATION WERE ARITHMETIC NOBODY CHARGES. It sells thirty of them, and the arithmetic turns out to be the price: $161.64 is 36 packs at $4.49 and $143.64 is 36 at $3.99, which are the current and the old pack price from the row above. Twelve current boxes carry $161.64 to the cent. ONE DOES NOT, and it is named here rather than hidden: the Temporal Forces box is $161.14, fifty cents under the rest, on the same day. Seventeen Sword and Shield and older boxes are $143.64, which is the old pack price still on the shelf rather than a bargain on a current set. This row was left blank for a day over that fifty cents, which was the wrong call: twelve listings agreeing is an answer and the outlier belongs in a sentence like this one.

Work out your multiple

Divide what the shop is asking by the number above. Two times is double retail. Anything a little over one is roughly normal for a shop that has to pay staff and rent. The sum is the useful part, because it travels: it works on a product not on this list, and it works next year when these figures have moved.

Type a price and this works out the multiple.

This does the arithmetic and nothing else. It knows nothing about the shop you are standing in, and a number over one is not by itself a reason to walk out: a small shop that actually has stock on a shelf is worth something. 13 real listings with the sums already done are below.

Above MSRP

Most shops sell over MSRP

Most places selling sealed Pokemon are asking more than Pokemon asks. That is not a scandal and it is not illegal: a suggested price is a suggestion, no shop has to honor it, and the number above is the manufacturer's opinion rather than a rule. It does mean the sticker in front of you is a question rather than an answer, and the useful move is always the same one. Work out the multiple before you pay it.

Pokemon's own shop price IS the MSRP. Pokemon Center is The Pokemon Company selling its own product, so what it asks is the price the manufacturer suggests. Anybody asking more than that is selling above MSRP, and that is far more shops than most people expect.

The gap tends to open widest on the things that are hardest to get: a set everybody wants in the first two weeks after it lands, the calendar in December, the one box left on a shelf that has been empty for a month. It closes again on the same product a few months later. That is why this page prints suggested prices with dates and prints shop prices as dated examples, rather than telling you what any shop charges.

Every listing below is one product, at one shop, on one day, at an address you can open yourself. None of it is a rating of the shop, and none of it will be current for long. Check the price in front of you against the figure above and do the division. That sum is the part of this page that still works next year.

What a multiple means

Divide the asking price by the suggested one. These bands are this site's rule of thumb and not a measurement: the edges are a judgment about what is worth paying, and two people can reasonably draw them somewhere else. Only the bottom of the first one is a fact, because 1x is what the manufacturer itself asks.

  1. 1x to 1.15xAbout retail

    At or near the suggested price. This is what the manufacturer's own shop charges by definition, and what a chain usually lists a new product at before it sells out.

  2. 1.15x to 1.5xA shop's margin

    Over the suggestion, but the sort of over that pays for a building and somebody standing in it. A local shop with the box actually in stock is often here, and stock in your hands today is worth something.

  3. 1.5x to 2xScarcity pricing

    You are paying for the fact that it is hard to find rather than for the cardboard. Sometimes that is a fair trade to you. It is worth knowing that is the trade you are making.

  4. 2x and upDouble and up

    At twice the suggested price you can buy two of them for what one costs, if you can wait and find them. Reprints and restocks happen. Very little sealed product is genuinely a last chance.

Nothing here ranks one shop against another, adds them up, or says anything about why a price was set: one product page on one afternoon cannot support any of that.

Who is setting the price

The prices above go stale. This part does not, because it is about how each kind of seller arrives at a number rather than what any of them charged one afternoon.

  • The manufacturer's own shop

    Nothing to work out. Pokemon Center is The Pokemon Company selling its own product, so the price it asks IS the suggested retail price. Every figure on this page marked as Pokemon's own shop was read there.

    Worth knowing. It sells ten years of back catalog beside this month's box, and old stock keeps its old price. A cheaper figure there is often an older set rather than a deal on a current one.

  • Big box and game chains

    One price per product, set by the chain and shown on its own product page, the same across the country. That price is the chain's decision and not Pokemon's, which is why it can sit at the suggested figure on one product and well over it on the next.

    Worth knowing. The multiple is not one number even inside one chain. Two of the listings above are the same retailer, on two different products, read on the same day, and they are nowhere near the same multiple.

  • Online marketplaces

    There is no single price at all. Thousands of separate sellers each set their own, so what you see is one stranger's asking price and the next listing down is a different one. TCGplayer, eBay and Whatnot all work this way.

    Worth knowing. The price you compare is not the price you pay. TCGplayer's own shipping page says the buyer is charged one flat shipping fee per STORE, so a cart from six sellers pays six times. eBay stacks the same way.

  • Online card shops

    One company owns the stock, prices it, packs it and answers for it, so there is one price and one place to complain to. Free shipping thresholds are often two thresholds, with sealed product on the higher one.

    Worth knowing. A shop's own listed price and its shipping rule have to be added together before comparing it with anything. Two of the shops on this site's buying page run a separate, higher free shipping threshold for an order containing sealed product, and a third runs one high line across everything it sells.

  • Your local shop

    Whatever the owner decides, product by product, and it can move between two visits. There is no listed price to read from here.

    Worth knowing. This site holds no prices from any local shop, so it makes no claim about them. The six Rochester, NY shops on our shops page were visited for hours and events, not for a price list. Do the division in the aisle instead.

None of this says walk out. A shop that has the thing on the shelf, today, in a town where four other places are sold out, has done something for you that a screen has not, and the multiple is the price of that. The reason to do the sum is so that you are the one deciding whether it is worth it.

The one figure worth remembering is the suggested price for the product type you buy most. Past that, the arithmetic travels: it works on a product this page does not list, and it works next year when every figure here has moved.

The honest half

These are here because leaving them out would make the list look more complete than it is. 6 of them are not a gap in the research: Pokemon's own shop sells them at more than one price on the same day, with no old and new about it, so the type has no one figure and the row says which prices it runs between. The other one is genuinely thin on evidence and says so instead.

    THIS ROW PRINTED $24.99 UNTIL THE CATEGORY WAS READ IN FULL and the reading took the number away rather than confirming it. Twenty two collector tins on one page on one day land on five different prices, and the split is not generational: the newest tins here, the Mega Charizard pair, are $21.99, while 2023 tins are $28.99. The nine dollar spread is real and no figure in it is the collector tin's price. Two different tins are even called V Heroes Tin (Espeon V), one at $19.99 and one at $24.99.

    THIS ROW PRINTED $14.99 AND CALLED UNOWNARCHIVES' $15.99 A DISAGREEMENT IT HAD BEATEN. It had not. It rested on two 30th Celebration boxes, and the fuller reading found five boxes at $14.99 and five at $15.99, all of them Pokemon's own price, all of them current. 30th Celebration is the newest line on the page and is the cheaper one, Ascended Heroes is 2026 and is the pricier one, so there is no old stock story to tell here and no figure to print. Both reference tables were right about the boxes they were each looking at.

Three is a thin sample and the priciest of them is the current SKU, which is the wrong way around for an old stock story, so the row waits for a fourth reading rather than printing the figure the tables like. bujusjujus separately names this line as one Target itself lists at $40.

    A store reading normally settles a row and this one deliberately does not, even now there are two of them. Pokemon's own shop had the Terapagos ex box and the Sword and Shield Charizard box both at $119.99 on August 17, 2026, and the 30th Celebration UPC is $60 more, so the type still has no single price to print. bujusjujus gives the whole line as a range, which is the same answer in different words.

    The full category read turned up exactly one of these, a Sun and Moon Team Up pack with a coin and a Pikachu promo at $4.99. That is a 2019 box at a 2019 price, next to a row above where the same era's loose pack was $3.99 and the current one is $4.49, so it says nothing usable about what a checklane blister costs today.

    The first row on this page where a store reading made things less certain rather than more, and the fuller reading only sharpened it: seven stacking tins now, four at $12.99 and three at $14.99, one product line sold by energy type with no old and new about it. Every one of them is Pokemon's own price and there is still no single figure to print.

What MSRP actually means here

MSRP is the manufacturer's suggested retail price: what the company that made a thing thinks a shop should charge for it. Suggested is the operative word. No law makes a shop honor it, and a shop can technically sell a box for whatever it likes. That is why the same Elite Trainer Box can sit on a shelf at one price and on a table at a show at double it on the same afternoon, and it is the entire reason this page is worth having.

The useful thing about the suggested number is that it does not move when a set gets hot. It is set by product type, not by demand, so it stays a fixed post to measure a price against.

Who set these numbers, and when we read them

Pokemon Center is The Pokemon Company's own shop, selling its own product. The price it asks is therefore the price the manufacturer suggests, which is what MSRP means. There is no separate document to go and look for: 25 of the 26 figures above are Pokemon's own shop price, read off its own store pages on August 17, 2026. Each row names the exact product the figure was read from, and the shop itself is linked at the foot of this page.

That store does not answer an automated request. Every address on it returns a short bot check page with no product on it, so the 431 prices behind this page were read by a person in a browser, in one pass, and written down with the product address and the date on each. We did not try to get around the check and we do not use their pictures.

The rest are figures that two or more independent price references print identically, to the cent. Those are careful people reading shop listings and agreeing with each other, which is good evidence about what the suggestion is rather than the manufacturer saying it, so the label over those prices is different. Where the references disagree, or where only one of them has a product, the row says so and prints no price at all.

Where Pokemon's own shop and a reference disagree, the shop wins and the row says so out loud instead of quietly dropping the other figure. The Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box is the clearest case: one guide still has it at $54.99 from March 2026, and two of those boxes were $59.99 in Pokemon's own shop on August 17, 2026.

What you should still be careful about

A price is a price on a date, including the manufacturer's. Booster bundles went from $23.94 to $26.94 in late 2025, and the Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box from $54.99 to $59.99 during 2026. A figure with an old date on it is a figure to re-check, which is why every row carries one.

One reading is also one product, and the count is what decides a row. Twelve display boxes at $161.64 with one fifty cents under them is one price and an outlier, so that row prints the figure and names the odd box. Two Ultra Premium Collections at $119.99, against a third the same line sells at $179.99, is not: nothing there is an outlier, so it sits in the list below with the spread instead of a number. Five and five is the same answer, which is why Tech Sticker Collections carry none either.

Nothing here says what is inside a pack or how likely anything is to be in it. This site never states pull rates, because The Pokemon Company does not publish them.

The rest of the money questions

What one pack works out at across every set is on pack prices, which is market price rather than retail. How many packs are actually in each product, sourced per product, is on packs per box. What each kind of product is, and dozens of each opened on camera, is on sealed products. Where to buy without paying a premium is on where to buy.

For one product worked all the way through, the 2026 First Partner Illustration Collection is the clearest example on the site of the gap this page is about: $14.99 at Pokemon's own shop against $17.99 on a Best Buy or Target shelf, which is 1.2x, and that page shows what all 27 cards in it are worth as well.

    The Pokemon Company's own shop, selling its own product. Its price is the manufacturer's suggested retail price, which is what MSRP means, so this is the strongest source on the page and the only one that is the manufacturer rather than somebody reading listings. Its TCG cards category was read in a real browser on August 17, 2026, in two passes: 31 products first, then all ten pages of it for 400 more, none of which repeated a product from the first pass. All 431 are on file with the product path on every figure. The site answers an automated request with a bot-check page rather than a product, so this was read by hand and is not repeated by any script. A shop price can still move, which is why every figure carries the day it was read.
