A place goes on this list only if its OWN site, its OWN online menu or an ordering page it runs says it serves a plate. A food blog or a directory saying so is not evidence that a kitchen still makes one. This is a directory, not a ranking. Nick Tahou Hots is first because it is where the dish comes from and it holds the trademark, which is a matter of record rather than an opinion about dinner. Everything else is in alphabetical order inside its area. Nobody paid to be on it and there are no affiliate links on this site.
Addresses, prices and links were checked on September 23, 2026. Opening hours are printed for 34 of the 52 because those are the ones that state them on a page they run, and every other card says so instead of guessing. Open now is worked out in your browser from those same posted hours, in Rochester, NY time, so a holiday or a short-staffed night will not show up in it. Call before you make a trip of it.
Places we checked and left off
Every one of these turns up on somebody's list of plates around Rochester, NY. None of them could be confirmed from the business itself, so none of them are above. They are written down so nobody researches them again, and so you know the list is short on purpose.
- Schaller's. Their own menu was read in full on August 20, 2026, and again on September 23, and the word plate does not appear on it once: the headings are burgers and sandwiches, extras, drinks and souvenirs. Blogs and directories say they serve a plate. Their menu does not, and a listicle is not evidence a kitchen still makes something.
- Sticky Lips BBQ. Their own site has been reduced to a placeholder reading that it will be available soon, and the page that used to hold the Sticky Icky Plate redirects to it. That is exactly the shape of a closure and this page will not send anybody there on a guess.
- John's Tex Mex. Their menu page answered 403, so nothing about it could be confirmed from the business.
- Hot Shots on Chili Avenue. There is no such restaurant. The Chili Avenue plate shop is Chili Hots and it is on the list above.
- Closed, per the business itself or a successor at the same address: JT's Pizza and Plates in East Rochester (its own Facebook page calls it a pause), Taci's Irondequoit Hots, Park's Plates & Shakes (Vasko's on Park is at 266 Park Ave now), Roc Brewing Co. (Spotted Octopus is at 56 South Union), Roc Style Chicken & Burger, and Hot's Point in Sodus Point, which has closed for the season and is up for sale.
- Gone, as far as anything the business runs can show: ER Hots, Greece Hots, Irondequoit Hots, JB Quimby's, McCann's Local Meats, Penfield Hots, Superfly DMC, 585 Rockin Burger Bar, Happy Days On The Go, Bunga Burger Bar, Exchange Sports Bar, Gitsis Texas Hots, Jimmy Z's Plates & Shakes, Smokin' Hots, Joe's Hots and Hilton Hotz. Every one has a dead site or none at all, and directories that mark it closed. A directory saying closed is not proof, which is why they are here rather than simply dropped.
- Open, but with no plate on the menu they publish today: Swiftwater Brewing, The Frog Pond on Park, The Distillery and Effortlessly Healthy. Somebody wrote about a plate at each of them once.
- Gates Hots at 485 Spencerport Road. A different restaurant is at that address now.
- Daughter of Seitan's vegan garbage plate is a recipe, not a place you can order one.

- Finger Lakes Plates in Canandaigua and Straight Plates of the FLX in Geneva, whose only presence is a Facebook page with no menu.
- Lovin' Cup Bistro & Brews in Henrietta, whose own menu lists Trash Talk, the plate in burger form on a Kaiser roll, so a burger rather than a plate.
- Skylark Lounge, whose menu page renders empty, and Flaherty's Macedon, whose plates appear on an ordering page its own site does not link.
- My Scottsville Hots, Top Shelf Pizza in Honeoye, Simply Jimmy's in Seneca Falls and Everybody Eats in Batavia.
- The Red Wings. Plates night is every Thursday home game, but the team's own ballpark pages did not say what the stands are selling this season.
